1. Do you have a storefront?
No. The Cake Mama is a home-based
business meaning all of the goods that I bake are right in my own home kitchen.
For me, it's open 24 hours and I have everything I need to convert your vision
into a delicious reality! Eventually The Cake Mama will becoming a travelling gypsy at some local markets, stay tuned! Please note that your goodies are baked in a pet free and smoke free home :)
2. Pricing, pricing, pricing.
I know what
you're thinking. It's just a cake, I could go out and get a huge cake from
Costco or Walmart for a fraction of the cost right? Well as true as that might
be you are also getting a cake that was mass produced. My creations are
an edible version of your vision that requires time, artistry and skill. I also
do not get wholesale pricing on my supplies so I do have to pass those costs
onto the client so I don't pay out of pocket for an order. Customized cakes
requires back and forth dialogue with a client to ensure everything is to your
specifications. They can sometimes take days to finalize and nearly 3 days to
actually complete- definitely not the kind of service you'd get at a grocery
store bakery.
3. What is your baking &
decorating process?
The Cake Mama typically starts
preparing your cake the week the cake is due. Any kinds of models,
fondant or gum paste decorations are made at the beginning of the week allowing
them to dry completely into its final appearance. Sponges are baked 2 days
prior to the due date and then filled, iced and covered in fondant (if requested)
and decorated the night before.
4. Can you deliver and set up my
order?
Yes I can! But wait, only for weddings. I charge $0.75/km for
delivery and $25 to set up your order at the venue. Please note that you are
responsible for returning any rented items within 48 hours. These details will
be included in your invoice.
